​Okinawa: Southern Area

​Southern Okinawa is home to the prefectural capital, Naha, which is full of historical sites such as Shuri Castle and Shinkina Gardens as well as a vibrant night scene. Naha is also the gateway via air or sea to many of Okinawa’s other inhabited islands, including Ishigaki and Zamami. The area has also many traditional ceramics makers who create the island chain’s famous lion-dog figures.
