Welcome to

Hokkaido

Japan's most northerly main island and prefecture is renowned for wide open spaces, stunning natural scenery throughout the year and delicious local cuisine including lamb, crab, corn and ice cream.

There are many national parks, natural hot springs and cultural sights, including those related to Hokkaido's indigenous Ainu people.

In winter, Hokkaido is a popular destination for skiing and snowboarding thanks to its abundant powder snow, while warm, dry summers bring excellent conditions for hiking, river sports, horse riding and wildlife spotting.
