Nagasaki

Nagasaki enjoys a distinctly European feel as it was the first Japanese port to open to foreign trade, in the 17th century. Visit Dejima, the man-made island where boats once docked during Japan’s two centuries of isolation, or explore European-style homes. Outside the prefectural capital, there are islands with beautiful beaches and crystal-clear shores that draw kayakers and divers. Visitors can also access Gunkanjima, the island featured in James Bond film Skyfall.
